It’s about celebrating the confidence of a woman and courage: Sachiin Joshi
Reminder: The first look of JAZBAA will release tomorrow at Cannes Film Festival. Stay tuned.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s JAZBAA is the first Hindi film where Sachiin Joshi is just present in the form of a producer and not as an actor. “This film required me as a producer so I was there to support. It’s not necessary that I should act in every film that I produce,” Sachiin states.
He further adds what really induced him to take up the project, “Biggest highlight of the film was its script and it excited me to come on board. The script of JAZBAA is universal. Sanjay Gupta films are always different from the regular Bollywood stuff. He is known for stylized action. Aishwarya’s role is challenging as it is set in the realistic space. Initially, I was thinking how things will fall. But it’s going to come as huge surprise. It has high octane action sequences. It’s about mother-daughter relationship, where Ash plays a lawyer.”
Since JAZBAA was planned to be shown at Cannes 2015, where Aishwarya will present her comeback film, Sachiin feels Cannes would gain eyeballs for the film worldwide. “Yes in a way Cannes would be a great marketing support. It was planned in advance and everything is falling in place. Aishwarya’s popularity is worldwide. It’s her comeback film. There is definitely a certain intrigue to it,” says the producer.
Sachiin says that it would be a refreshing change to watch Ash in a realistic space. “Aishwarya was skeptical but once she got the script, she was game for it. She is not delicate. Her talent as an actor in realistic space is something to watch out for. She is really prepared and worked out very well. In fact we have all great actors like Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher in realistic space,” he says.
Though JAZBAA stars Aishwarya as the central character, it is not any other female-centric film. Sachiin says, “It is not just another women-oriented film. We are not talking about womanhood. It’s about celebrating the confidence of a woman and courage.”
JAZBAA, directed by Sanjay Gupta, is all set to hit the screens on October 9, 2015.
